Winifred F. (DeCarlo) Edwards

Winifred F. (DeCarlo) Edwards, 87, Williamsburg, passed away Thursday evening, July 11, 2019 at UPMC Altoona.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Herbert C. and Elizabeth M. (Dumbeck) DeCarlo.  On September 14, 1957 she married Walter Scott “Red” Edwards in Altoona.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 61 years; three daughters: Jackie (Bill) Weaver, Lynne Edwards and Maureen Edwards all of Williamsburg; two sons: Walter Scott Edwards II in California and Raymond C. (Flora) Edwards of Altoona; 10 grandchildren: Stephanie (Jessi), Christopher (Maura), Tiffany, Donna (Jeremy), Luke, Michael, Donnelly, Emily, Megan and Walter; and eight great-grandchildren: Alex, Kylee, Melissa, Anthony, Zachary, Alexis, Maddox and Aleah.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond C. DeCarlo.

Winnie was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg where she served on the Church Rosary Society, St. Joseph’s Guild and sang in the church choir.  She was also a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, Altoona, the American Legion Auxiliary Bonner-Sollenberger Unit 456, Williamsburg and a very active member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Our Lady of the Alleghenies #1755, where she served as Past Regent.  Winnie also served as a Judge of Elections for Catharine Township for many years.

She loved spending time her family and friends and also enjoyed playing cards with the Williamsburg Card Club and volunteering at the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Altoona.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8pm, Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg where a rosary service and vigil for the deceased will be recited.  A funeral mass will be held at 11am, Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg, Father Aron Maghsoudi and Father Mark Reid con-celebrants.  Interment will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Williamsburg.

Memorial contributions in memory of Winnie can be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 628 W. First St., Williamsburg, PA 16693.
