Yvonne J. Oakes, 68, Martinsburg, passed away Sunday morning at UPMC Altoona, after an extended illness.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Chauncey and Hazel (Ringler) Lingenfelter.  On June 29, 1974 she married Duane F. Oakes Jr. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Ski Gap.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 42 years; a son, Duane F. III (Amy) of Martinsburg; a daughter, Leslie D. Schimminger (John) of Roaring Spring; 5 grandchildren: Quentin Williams, Mykah Schimminger, and Skye, Jaida and Kaemen Oakes; and a sister, Colette Lingenfelter of East Freedom.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Mock; and a brother, Dale Lingenfelter.

Yvonne was a 1965 graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel High School and a graduate of the Altoona Bible Institute.

She retired as a stitcher, from Cove Shoe Factory, Martinsburg with 37 years of service.

Yvonne attended church at New Life Alliance Church, East Freedom.

She enjoyed listening to gospel music and watching, St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Dallas Cowboys football.

Friends will be received from 11 am until the noon, memorial service, Thursday, July 28, 2016 at New Life Alliance Church, (former East Freedom Elementary School),  Pastor Ed Jelliff officiating.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD  20852.

Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
