Zana W. Ferry

Zana W. Ferry, 98, Martinsburg, died Thursday at Homewood Living Martinsburg. She was born in Elmira, NY, a daughter of Walter E. & Ruth M. (Russell) Walker. She married E. Wayne “Jake” Ferry on June 24, 1949 in Russellville, Huntingdon County.

Survived by two daughters: Brenda L. Long, Ephrata, PA., and Dr. Lori J. Bechtel-Wherry (Timothy Wherry), Martinsburg; daughter-in-law, Faith Ferry (Edwin Taylor), Tampa, FL; 11 grandchildren: Dr. Jenelle Ferry (Dr. Mark Yockey), Jordan Ferry (Katelyn), Colton Ferry, Jennifer Musser (Jamie), Stephanie Williams (Shaun), Sarah Long-Perez (Yamile), Andrea Mozzocchi (Chris), Adam Bechtel (Julie), Zachary Bechtel (Katherine), William Wherry and Sarah Wherry (Chris Wolff); 13 gr. grandchildren; and 1 gr. gr. grandchild. Predeceased by husband, “Jake”, 2010; son, Jeffrey W. Ferry, 1992; son-in-law, Dr. Harold R. Long, 2008, and sister, Juanita F. Mokricki, 2017.

Zana graduated from Saxton High School at the age of 15 and from secretarial school 2 years later. She worked as a secretary in Huntingdon for 5 years, and was later employed as an office assistant for several years at the IGA in Martinsburg. She retired as an administrative secretary from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Hollidaysburg, PA after decades of service. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Martinsburg. Zana’s favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, traveling, and music.

Friends will be received on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 10:00AM until the 11:00AM Funeral Service at the Homewood Living Martinsburg – Bice Memorial Chapel; Pastor Jerry McCuller officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery – Martinsburg.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in Zana’s name may be made to the Homewood Living Martinsburg Benevolent Fund.
