Zelda Marie (Holsinger) Teeter, age 88, of Florida, formerly of Woodbury, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 20, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband George Andrew Teeter and is survived by her four children, Stephen Holsinger and wife Barbara, Stephanie (Teeter) Vick, Kevin Teeter and wife Wendy, and Kenton Teeter and wife Janine. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren, Preston Holsinger, Wesley Holsinger, Madison Holsinger, Megan Holsinger, Brooke (Vick) Perna, Kristin Vick, Kyler Teeter, Kenzie Teeter, and Ryleigh Teeter.
Zelda was born on April 23, 1929, the daughter of Orville and Mary Holsinger, one of 8 children. Her sister Gayla died in childhood and her oldest brother Wilfred Holsinger is also deceased. Surviving are brother Wilson Holsinger, sister Maxine (Holsinger) Lockett, sister Martha (Holsinger) Copithorne, sister Marlene (Holsinger) Claar and brother Roy Holsinger.
Zelda’s lifelong career was that of a Registered Nurse. She spent 30 years following her employment in 1952 at Nason Hospital. At her retirement, she had achieved the position of Director of Nursing and had experience clinically in all areas of nursing from OB/GYN, Surgery, Medical and Surgical and Pediatrics to Supervisory roles up to and including her final role as Nursing Director. Following her retirement from Nason hospital, she began a second career at the Hollidaysburg Veteran’s Home rising to the ranks of Supervisor and retired following 10 years of employment. Zelda was a member of the Woodbury Church of the Brethren.
Her final career and most favorite was that of grandparent. The lights of her life were her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them and sharing the sights and experiences of her world travel which included Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. She valued her travels to the Holy Lands as the most spectacular opportunity of her lifetime.
Zelda will be missed by family and friends and the lives that she has touched through her career and her travels, but most of all by her care and concern for all.
Friends will be received on Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 4:00PM-8:00PM at the Weaver Funeral Home in Woodbury. On Monday, September 25, 2017 friends will be received from 10:00AM-11:00AM, with a funeral service beginning after at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren. Interment will be at Holsinger Cemetery.
